Colour has always made me happy and each of my artworks brings me happiness and reflects my outlook on life. Each colour used is hand painted on delicate tissue paper. This is the most free and spontaneous element in my process and provides me with a strong palette when digitally cutting the shapes that bring each piece to life on paper. The intricate patterns and vibrancy found in nature has always been a source of wonder and delight to me and I enjoy enhancing these and balancing the strength of the subject with white space. My work is always bursting with vivid and bold colours and I hope to bring the joyful happiness of luminous tones and the innocence of animals to life in this way.
Local professional graphic artist Travis Price has created some more great artworks for his very popular ‘Ballaarat’ series (that’s not a typo Ballaarat with 4 A’s is the traditional spelling and still used by some……. including Travis.) These are printed here at Accent Framing using our wide-format fine art printer and custom framed on our premises. All are personally signed by the artist.
This series of artworks are poetic interpretations of landscapes. They are created from memory, reverie and visual notes collected with my camera. I think of them as moodscapes, rather than simply landscapes, because their final form has been filtered through an interior process, or turned into story. These works are inspired by explorations of Tasmania and Bruny Island. Crossing the unpredictable waters of the Bass Strait to visit these islands, with their austere but lovely wilderness domains, and dramatic, brooding coastlines, is a journey into an internal as well as a geographical space. Selection of works are below:
As featured in Vogue Living, Furniture International & The Design Files. Beautifully handcrafted from Birch plywood with food grade coating. Stephen designed these bowls while living in Copenhagen and they were partly influenced by the location of his workshop on ‘Teglgårdstræde’ (tile yard street.)
Ritva’s works express human nature; our desires, disappointments, joys and sorrows. Many are in the context of classic fairytales and folklore because these are rich in symbolism shared by cultures around the world. Ritva has illustrated over 50 published books. One of her recent awards included the Children’s Book Council of Australia Honour Book Award for ‘The Stone Lion.’ Ritva was born in Finland and now lives in Ballarat.
Decoupage has been Margot’s passion for over 20 years. She has travelled extensively in search of original 18th Century works and her decoupage is inspired by visits to Venice and Florence where she studied Italian Rennaissance art and the Italian language. One of our recent works on exhibit is a beautiful large decoupage torso with coordinating mirror.
Contemplative images in oils or acrylics of scenes along the Ballarat Rail Trail. The trail stretches ahead between land and open sky, through eucalypt forest, paddocks with watching cattle, kangaroos and horses, birds dipping over dams, over old wooden bridges and through the higgeldy back blocks of small ‘places.’ Stella also produces some fascinating iconic works.
