Marie Mason: Lino print artist

02/06/2020 -

Marie has been creating art in one form or another for many years. She started as a painter, but after discovering Margaret Preston’s lino prints and the work of Claude Flight and co, she was drawn to printing. She has over 30 years of printmaking experience from Australian Print Workshop and Firestation Print Studio.

Marie’s strongest passion is in her representations of the Australian landscape for which she uses the reduction lino method.
This method provides shapes, colour and diversity of tone to the images and are typical of each area. She studies the landscape to select scenes within it that best describe it and really enjoys the process in which a vision in her mind turns into a print on paper. Marie is a relatively new resident of this region and we extend her a warm welcome to exhibit at Gallery on Sturt.
