01/04/2017 -

An exciting collection of works by these key national artists. Arthur Boyd (1920-1999) and Sidney Nolan (1917 – 1992) were amongst Australia’s most significant and influential artists of the twentieth-century.

This year 2017 is the centenary of the birth of Sidney Nolan. James Boyd (1948), son of Arthur, is the most important living artist of this remarkable Boyd dynasty of artists. The collective contribution of this family of painters, sculptors, ceramicists, poets, musicians and potters over the last century is preeminent in Australian art history and all have achieved substantial international reputations. This exhibition includes a series of etchings titled ‘The Prodigal Son‘ that revisit the series (1946-1947) for murals now in the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
